How it works it out

Your hourly rate is the income you want plus your yearly costs, divided by the hours you can bill in a year. Billable hours are your billable hours a week multiplied by your working weeks.

Billable hours are the ones a client pays for, not every hour you work. Admin, email and chasing invoices usually are not billable, so this number is often lower than people expect. If you want the rate to cover tax, add it to the income figure.

Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
